History[]

Caroline Lennox Taft Sinclair, mainly known as Carrie is the mother of Johnny and Will Sinclair. She is the protagonist and narrator of the sequel book ‘Family of Liars’.

Carrie was born sometime in 1970, the oldest daughter of Harris and Tipper Sinclair. When she was around sixteen, in 1986, she got surgery done to fix her jawline, which lead to her become addicted to Codeine, as a way to cope with the death of her sisterRosemary prior to the surgery. During the summer of 1987, when she was seventeen, she began stealing her father’s sleeping pills to grieve and cope with seeing the ghost of Rosemary. During this time, she learns that Harris is not her biological father, instead it’s Tipper’s ex-boyfriend, Buddy Kopelnick.

During the summer of 1987, she dated Lawrence Pfefferman, who later cheated on her with Penny.

She attended high school at North Forest, just like her sisters, and was very popular. She participated in sports, such as softball and tennis, and was chosen for student council.

she began attending Vassar College, but later, in 1990, she left college to go to a rehab clinic, however, returning to Beechwood only triggered a relapse. In 1991 she spent all of June and July in another rehab center, and returned to Beechwood in August.

It is likely she dropped out of college by September, and moved in with her friend, Deja. That same year, she saw Rosemary’s ghost for the last time.

After the death of her oldest son, Johnny, she saw his ghost multiple nights at Red Gate, and often wandered around the island, looking for him
